Our 2024 “Partnered for Empowerment” goal is $25,000

A portion of our 2024 programming will be made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. We will also fund a portion of our budget through commercial rentals of our studio space, by hosting our two annual fundraising events and applying for grants and corporate sponsorships. However, as we know in these precarious times, these efforts are not guaranteed income.

Since 2016, Bechdel Project has managed to achieve significant milestones in programming, provide support to our local community, and forever change the course of artists’ careers, all through an innovative and collaborative (intersectional feminist) approach to nonprofit arts management. We will always stay committed to continuing and expanding those efforts in addition to donor spending. Resource sharing, collaboration over competition, green initiatives, and working within a solidarity economic construct not only stretch every dollar further, but it centers our business practices on intersectional feminist tenants and aligns us with our organization's mission.

Our 2024 “Partnered for Empowerment” goal is $25,000. A remarkable number considering what we've been able to accomplish thus far with much, much less! (Learn more here)

Now, as we look to the new year, the time has come to expand our resources in new ways. We desire meaningful partnerships with individuals and cohorts who are with us for the long haul.

We hope that you will choose to collaborate with us by spending your hard earned money on Bechdel Project programming. We know every dollar counts right now in both business and at home. That is why every dollar spent will be put towards shaping a more equitable future and contributing directly to the livelihood of artists.

How The Numbers Break Down

46% of the annual budget goes to paying artists for their work, providing support services to artists, and providing free space to artists and the community

44% of the annual budget goes to paying our two full time Co-Creative Directors

10% of the annual budget goes to paying insurance, accounting and legal fees, general administration infrastructure

Bechdel Project's 2024 projected budget is $67,000 and our prior 990s can be found here.
